Healthy Boundaries–A Podcast

Boundaries are not mean, selfish, or bad. It’s right and wise to name your highest priorities and to put limits in place in order to protect the people and things that matter most. Not so you can say no to…

A Simple Calming Technique

Valentine’s Day Thoughts

A few Valentine’s Day thoughts from your therapist friend: Growing up, my mom and dad never ever ever pushed having a boyfriend at me and my sister. Not when we were very young, not in high school, never. We didn’t…

You Don’t Have to Do It All

You absolutely do not have to do it all. In fact, you can’t. You can’t have a perfectly tidy house AND workout everyday AND eat “clean” AND go to work AND come up with special crafts for your kids AND…

Hope in the Waiting: A Story of Infertility with B Hope in the Waiting: A Story of Infertility with Bailey Henry

@bailshenry is the kind of person who feels like home. She actually is from my own hometown, but I bet if you met her she'd feel like home to you too--that's just the kind of person she is. A conversation with her carries an ease that can only come from a woman who is completely at peace with who she is.

Bailey has been pregnant five times and has had five miscarriages. Whether you've experienced infertility personally or not, you're going to find yourself somewhere in the words she's shared. Her interview is authentic, honest, raw, and hopeful.

You're going to be moved and encouraged by Bailey Henry. She is as tough as steel and yet full of grace. She has a faith that isn’t one bit sweet and fluffy but feels like the real deal that you need to hang on tight to when the hard times come. I'm so truly honored to share her story. You can find her interview at the link in my profile!

✨Mental Health Monday-Be Your Own Advocate✨ I ✨Mental Health Monday-Be Your Own Advocate✨

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor—but I could never know your mind or history like you do.

Doctors are a great gift to us, but if you know something is wrong then it probably is—even if the doctors can’t figure it out.

So speak up for yourself. If your therapy isn’t helping, say so. If you KNOW in your heart something is off with your body, pursue it again with your doctor or get a new one. If a physical therapist, dentist, social worker, chiropractor, or anyone in a medical or helping setting makes you feel truly uncomfortable, find a new provider. You don’t have to explain yourself—just bye 🤗

You owe it to yourself to advocate for yourself, because no one will or can do it for you. You don’t have to feel guilty, awkward, or apologetic about finding the help you need!

✨This is not meant to bash the medical profession. I’m truly grateful to be able to refer my clients to the most wonderful set of doctors and nurse practitioners. And this is how I know with certainty that quality care from genuine and kind providers is something worth pursuing✨

✨Also—if 3 therapists, 5 doctors, your best friends, your family, and the lady who sees you fall apart at the grocery store all separately tell you the same thing, that’s probably information worth considering 😉
And we know that in all things God works for the g And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

This spring so many friends, real life and online, have reached out to me for help with starting a garden of their own. And I have to laugh, because I never claimed I was actually good at this, I only said I love it 😂

And so while I hope I haven’t led any of these aspiring gardeners astray, all of the connections, conversations, home visits, and garden center visits have filled my heart up to the very top in a time when I’ve really needed it. Gardening really is a gift that never stops giving.

I know with all certainty it’s just another small way that God has worked for my good, giving me this significant gift that I didn’t even know I needed 🌸
Little cutie wearing my dress from 1990 and her ne Little cutie wearing my dress from 1990 and her new @shopjenzy “big girl shoes” 😂 I continue to be impressed by shoe shopping with @shopjenzy! This what I said last month and I still feel this way:

If something tedious can be made simple, I’m all for it. Buying shoes for Lily this year has looked like this—order three pair, hope one fits, bring other two pair to post office to return, or forget to bring them and add to our collection of non-fitting shoes 😑 But now @shopjenzy has saved the shoe shopping day!!!

Two clever ladies, Carolyn and Eve, have created a solution to this shoe dilemma that so many of us parents experience. With @shopjenzy, I filled out a quick questionnaire about Lily (it literally took less than one minute) and I was able to shop from a selection of styles that would best fit her feet. Like magic, the shoes arrived quickly and fit perfectly-and I never had to choose the size!

This time we chose these cute pink @cientashoes sneakers, a long time favorite brand. @shopjenzy has a great selection of other brands, like @livieandluca, @saltwatersandals, @seekairun, and @newbalance.

To be completely honest, I would NEVER share something like this that I didn’t find to be a truly quality experience. But after using @shopjenzy twice myself (my mom also had a great experience), I feel great about sharing it with you!

Happy Launch Day @emilyley and team @simplified! E Happy Launch Day @emilyley and team @simplified! Every single new planner pattern is beautiful, but I couldn’t pass up the Navy Hydrangeas!

A planner doesn’t contain the magic secrets to life, but I truly do believe that using one can help you focus on the things that matter most and build in some down time for yourself along the way! I switched from a weekly to a daily planner last March and it’s the only way I knew what day it was for the next four months 😂🥴 I do thank you for this much needed help @simplified.

This planner helps me keep my life in order and @emilyley’s books are some of my most recommended resources for my clients in therapy. I can’t recommend them enough!
