One Year

I shared my first blog post a year ago today. I had wanted a new website for quite a while, but I never had time. Then COVID came and all of a sudden I did have time. My work as…

Never did I ever think clothing for a 3D printed d Never did I ever think clothing for a 3D printed dragon named Spike would be my child’s top Christmas request. But here we are and why would I want it any other way🐉🎄? There’s just no one quite like Lily Caves in all the world.
I’ve been doing “holiday spirit” check ins w I’ve been doing “holiday spirit” check ins with clients and friends all week and “stuff” sure can pile up during the holidays, can’t it? It's hard to be feeling sad when it's a season of "supposed to be glad" and expectations are high.

One of the hardest things about any hard season is feeling alone. These dear friends of mine from @rivertreecounseling don’t want anyone to feel alone.

I always keep our website in the link in my bio in case you or someone you know may want to contact one of our counselors. These ladies are smart and kind and want to hear your story. They are the real deal and the best secret keepers. ❤️❤️

Will you do a favor for us and for someone who may need this? We think the holidays are a time when counseling can be especially helpful.
If you’re local, will you share this post so more people can know help is near?

From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate you. Your encouragement and support have meant the world to me during this first year of @rivertreecounseling!
Made it to our annual viewing of The Nutcracker ye Made it to our annual viewing of The Nutcracker yesterday, brought this little toy I like to call Nutcracker On A Stick with us. I saw it and thought it would be good for waving around, bopping people on the head, and being cute (can confirm it was all of these).

I’m so grateful for these friends ❤️
The holiday season can be a wonderful time. It c The holiday season can be a wonderful time.

It can also be a time when we feel tempted to compare our lives to people we know or things we see on online.

It might be helpful to remember:
-Your capacity will be different in different seasons. It’s ok if things are different than they were last year.

-You’re the expert on what kind of gift giving works best for your family. Gift giving is not a moral issue, but it is an entirely subjective one. You get to decide what’s right for you this year.

-Family issues can be difficult, especially during the holidays. You’re not alone in this.

-Most people have an area of life that hasn’t turned out like they hoped and the holidays tend to highlight these things. You’re not alone in this.

-Pictures tell a story, but never even come close to telling the whole story.

-You can’t control what people share online, but you CAN control what you take in.

Don’t compare your real, messy, beautiful life to the tiny piece of the lives you see on social media. Not this holiday season or ever ❤️
If there is anything in this world I can “influe If there is anything in this world I can “influence” you on, let it be about the overwhelming goodness of God and the hope found in Jesus. This is true every day of the year, but it feels particularly special during Christmastime.

I hope you enjoy this list of Advent/Christmas Devotionals! I originally shared this collection three years ago. So much has changed in my life since then, but God’s faithfulness and the hope we have in Jesus have stayed the same, just as they always will. I’m so happy to share this collection of devotionals with you again this year.

This list hasn’t been updated in three years, so please leave any new favorites you have in the comments! I hope these are an encouragement to you as we head into the holiday season❤️
2023 came after a few hard years for me. It was fu 2023 came after a few hard years for me. It was full of things I saw as broken, but really God was just making things new. Im thankful for new beginnings, healthy family, and friends who show up again and again and again. Im thankful for the way joy slowly shows back up.

Im thankful for God who redeems, the hope of Heaven, and new mercies every morning. Every bit of it is Grace.

I hope you have a happy Thanksgiving with the ones you love 💕
Truly, this isn’t even in the realm of weird thi Truly, this isn’t even in the realm of weird things found in my purse 😂. This was only about a week into carrying this one. The sky is really the limit for what treasures/mysteries can be found inside on any given day.

Whether you’re carrying around burritos and glitter rocks like me or you’re a bit tidier, I think you’ll love a @barringtongifts St. Anne bag. The new patterns are beautiful, the quality can’t be beat, and there’s plenty of room inside—clearly 😂

The @barringtongifts buy more, save more sale is going on right now, so it’s a great time to save a significant amount if you’ve had your eye on something!
🏡I shared this post about home for the first ti 🏡I shared this post about home for the first time a couple of years ago and now feels like the right time to dust it off again. I mean these words today even more than I did two years ago💕

This is our very ordinary home. It was built in 1983, so it’s old but not old enough to be special. Just old enough to be totally out of style. We’ve been able to fix it up here and there and some things are looking pretty good, but there have been no truly major renovations. There are no big bathrooms. There is no bonus room. It is not white and shiny. But I love this home.

We live here and love here. We cook and eat a thousand meals together here and we invite people in with us. Kids are loud and there are plenty of spills that don’t matter. No one minds sitting on the couch or the floor to eat. No one minds using a non-remodeled bathroom.

It’s my hope that we’ve created a place of respite and peace here, for ourselves and for others. A place that says “you matter here”, “you belong here”, and “you can be your real self here”.

Over the next couple of months you’ll see plenty of images of beautiful holiday homes on the internet and on tv and that isn’t wrong or bad (I personally really enjoy those things). But don’t let yourself forget that true hospitality has nothing to do with how a place looks and everything to do with how it feels. People just want a place where they feel welcome. And nothing has to be bright and shiny to offer that 💕
