I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor—but I could never know your mind or history like you do.
Doctors are a great gift to us, but if you know something is wrong then it probably is—even if the doctors can’t figure it out.
So speak up for yourself. If your therapy isn’t helping, say so. If you KNOW in your heart something is off with your body, pursue it again with your doctor or get a new one. If a physical therapist, dentist, social worker, chiropractor, or anyone in a medical or helping setting makes you feel truly uncomfortable, find a new provider. You don’t have to explain yourself—just bye.
You owe it to yourself to advocate for yourself, because no one will or can do it for you. You don’t have to feel guilty, awkward, or apologetic about finding the help you need!
***This is not meant to bash the medical profession. I’m truly grateful to be able to refer my clients to the most wonderful set of doctors and nurse practitioners. And this is how I know with certainty that quality care from genuine and kind providers is something worth pursuing.
